The wonder of random stumbling found me on a nice writeup of efficiencies in process (and thus, your time, their profit, etc.) at Costco, written by a fellow (Nari Kannan of Ajira) that I haven't spoken to in at least a year, perhaps more! (read the post - I must say, the BPM Blogosphere blog is a bit hard on my eyes. Whew, text ads galore...)
It's a great peek at ways Costco is moving to reduce or eliminate 3 of the 7 wastes that those who know Lean Thinking (and the entire Lean world), and/or Toyota's mantras, will find familiar. If you aren't familiar with Lean, well, jump on over and get a nice quick intro via this Costco example.
And this reminds me, I need to take advantage of my Costco membership - I wonder if this has permeated the chain?
