Was just reading a summary (at "Stephen's Lighthouse" blog) of "Information Behaviour of the Researcher of the Future" funded by The British Library and JISC (released Jan. 11, 2008 ) forwarded by my fellow AIIM colleague Atle Skjekkeland this morning. The paper/presentation relates to our ongoing Enterprise 2.0 research and training - both being brewed as I type.
Quick read, well worth taking a peek. This is looking at the future of research (as in being a student or professional researcher, and using specialized or generic tools to accomplish the job).
From there, stumbled within Stephen's blog a bit deeper onto an interesting online debate,no, "Extreme Debate" being hosted/facilitated by The Economist, on the topic of social networking, specifically on it's impact in education. Interesting style of interaction, and a way to sustain debate across a week-ish timeframe, and with some audience input.
Interesting to see how this works for The Economist (and this in an ongoing, just launched offering of theirs) - it's always a draw to have a debate, and this format allows for a bit more rumination than a live debate, and taps the crowd without letting them dominate with back-channel whackiness.
Anyone else using similar mechanics? Found it be good, bad, indifferent? Curious how the logistics/mechanics were set up, technically, myself.
