On the search and find front, relating to my other post today regarding Search 2.0, Google and Vivismo, I recalled the video interview that David Weinberger had done with me at the January 2007 user conference run by FAST - FASTForward 2007, and as with so much content posted to the web, raise it from the dead (i.e. the "long tail") for another re-examine.
Important sidenote: FAST had some disappointing news in the last few days on the revenue and expense side. Ouch. Fast Quick, get a financial doctor! See our aiimALERT for more commentary on the FAST Financial Front. Smart people, intriguing technology - but don't forget to run the business...
The video interview reminds me again that search and findability, discovery and navigation is much more than any single feature, function, or piece of technology. It also reminds me that David is smart as a whip (truly), and although we try to trip each other up with sarcastic humor (and it is certainly hard to top him - as he has far more experience in "the media" than I), there are worse things to do with 5 minutes of your life! You might laugh, you might learn - worth a shot!
Also, although the video clip and description mentions my working at the Delphi Group and/or the Innovation Lab of Perot Systems (we [Delphi] had been acquired by Perot Systems 3.5 years ago), as of June 1, 2007, you can find me hanging my hat at AIIM.org - still very much engaged in research, analysis and consulting in the broad world of information and innovation. If there's anything I can do for you, as a software company, reporter, blogger, or a buyer/user, don't hesitate to get in touch!
