The Art of Innovation

Ah, Guy Kawasaki - always good for some inspiration and provocative posts! As a longtime fan of Guy (great insights into Software Evangelism, startups, power networking, and attention capturing presentation styles, among other topics), I have to remind myself to jump over to his blog from time to time and catch up on what he's up to lately.

Now, twice in one night, I have stumbled onto mention of 'veotag' - which meant absolutely nothing to me, until I jumped over to see Guy Kawasaki present on 'The Art of Innovation' at a recent event. Ah, taggable video feeds, this allows a video or audio content producer to 'tag' (embed or associate) bookmarks, transcriptions, or snippets, that allow a viewer/listener to jump between interesting spots in the content. By itself, that's nothing new, as DVDs, CDs and other have had this sort of functionality - but a nice extension of the world that YouTube and Google Video (among others) have brought to the table.

Take a look at Guy's Presentation on 'The Art of Innovation' and you'll see what I'm talking about. Of course there are plenty of others who are using veotag.com - this is just one example. Apparently it's possible to embed veotagged audio/video, just as you can do with YouTube et al, although I have not found the instructions to do so. If anyone would like to clue me in here, please do!

So, another example of tagging, and what some are calling 'deep tagging' - as it can potentially be a full synchronized transcription. Interesting - will have to add to my 'hour of power' on tagging and folksonomies that I like to weave into the Taxonomy training I do from time to time.
