I've not yet made it to Australia, but Eric Scheid a fellow Information Architecture Institute member who I've corresponded with from time to time let me know about the upcoming Oz-IA 2006 event coming up September 30th and October 1st in Ultimo, Sydney - that comes very close to making me want to take the journey from Boston to the other side of the globe. The topics look, frankly, fantastic - I wish I had the time to make it, as for example, I would love to sit in on the sessions on "Lakoff's 'Women, Fire & Dangerous Things' - What every IA should know" (Lakoff's book is on my Amazon list, but I just haven't gotten to it - for reasons that Donna describes in the summary of the session; similar feeling to my current reading of Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' - it's just plain dense material) by Donna Maurer or "Information Architecture on Drugs" by Stephen Hall and Andrew Boyd (fantastic title fellows!). I recognize many names of presenters here from various listservs, discussion groups, books, and blogs - and from a glance, I'd say if you are anywhere within striking distance, jump on over and spend a weekend with some clever IA folks.
